John is the son of an itinerant roustabout and a put-upon mother. At 14 John started hanging about in bars and got his first gig playing drums within weeks. Since then John has played up and down the country, in bars festivals and clubs. With a background in jazz, blues and rock, Rich made his debut playing blues in Denmark in 1979; returning to England with a Danish wife some years later, he went on to play blues, folk and pop styles in venues across the country. In the 90s he played with Badger and later with Grapevine Blues, featuring at the Chelsea and Reading Blues Festivals.
